Holder of multiple world records for deepest underwater motorcycle ride (19.4 feet), longest underwater wheelie (.23 mile) and submerged speed record (18.2 nautical mph) the Haverford 2600 'Moto Lung' was developed by British engineer and tire nipple designer Alton Haverford to be used by fish herders and Loch Ness Monster researchers in the early 70's.
The original kit test fitted to a second hand Yamaha YZ125 was hoped to be the first of a series of 'hydro-cycles' that would be campaigned in a new racing series Haverford endeavored to create using his 'moto lung' system with a first demonstration to be held under the Thames River at the 1974 London Exposium.
Regrettably technical problems with the guppy screen prevented him from demonstrating the full capabilities of the system causing him significant significant financial outlay for the failed attempt.
He returned for an all or nothing attempt at the 75' Exposium with a more fully realized bike but this time his swim fins got caught up in the chain and a botched shift during a power wheelie attempt caused him to stall the bike 10 feet from shore ending his chances to impress the judges and assembled motoring press.
The Queen Mum who was in attendance and incidentally a major fan and collector of the early YZ125’s was eagerly anticipating an impressive demonstration waived off the attempt as a farce and left the viewing platform in disgust dropping the proclamation for proposed knighthood of Heverford in the bin.
The blueprints and early prototypes were packed away in a hay shed until Nigel Rumsbottom an enterprising accounting apprentice and harmonica soloist discovered them by chance while sheep watching in the country as the hills in that region are know for a rather handsome line of Castlemilk Moorits which he’d become quite fond of in recent years.
And with photographers, stenographers, pornographers and representatives from the Guinness Book World Record in attendance, Powers set multiple records and single handedly created a new motorcycle category.
Nigel's subsequent attempts to sell design patents and licensing rights to Triumph and Hodaka ended in failure after a test rider lost an eye to an irritated pike during speed trials testing in the River Trent.
Until now.
The Secret Agents of Speed™️ at Taco Moto Co.have secured all rights and patents to this revolutionary system and bring it to a modern motorcycling world with compatibility for all 08-22 EXC and FE bikes.
