A: We’ve invested considerable time, effort and expense to offer a tune and configuration worthy of the Taco Moto name and ironclad guarantee. When you ride one of our tunes you can expect a crisp and clean throttle response, lower engine temps in before and after comparative ride tests, cleaner smoother power, increased power and performance equal to any race ECU on market. Our enduro map is light years ahead of the OEM enduro soft map and is like a ‘cheat mode’ for hill climbs, loose terrain and slippery conditions. All our tunes are put through the beat-down by Mike and the team of cracker-jack test riders in conditions ranging from the deserts of Baja to the high mountain passes of Colorado and everywhere in between. Mike is pretty obsessive about what he puts on the site and these maps are completely worthy of the Taco Moto name.
A: We've spent years building a global reputation of rider trust with our service, products and our Baja tested Baja proven philosophy. We also chose to work with Dynojet and their most experienced tuning engineer on our remap product, and those guys are the top name in the game for all things engine tuning and performance. In fact they're the only company to offer both a dyno and the integrated tuning software that tie them both together for the best accuracy and performance possible. The partnership of Taco Moto and Dynojet together with the team of industry experts and test riders we've assembled make this an entirely next level option in the ECU reflash game. We're so confident of that, if you don't agree, we'll give you your money back.
A: No, our tune won’t trip the CEL on any bikes.
Q: Can I run the stock exhaust and end cap with your tune?
A: The OEM muffler is a well-built unit well with strong materials and has great performance potential. However the stock enduro bike end-caps are up to 80% air flow obstructed and retain too much heat in the engine and choke back power. We like the stock muffler but not the end cap. A terrific and cost effective solution is swapping it out for the Pro Moto Billet unit. You might also want to look at the multiple slip-on and full system options available on our site as well. Whichever way you go, an open and free-flowing muffler is key to extracting the full potential of our tunes.
Q: What are the areas of the tune that your reflash improves?
A: Depending on the bike make, year and model - tuned areas may include: fuel and ignition calibrations, start up fueling, injector latency scaling, decel fuel cut off, ignition dwell timing, injection timing, feedback fuel, cranking fuel, after start enrichment, decel compensation, global barometric compensation, intake air temp compensation, throttle tip-in settings, sensor scaling, and a few others that are part of our secret sauce.
Q: My bike pops and snaps on decel, will a reflash solve that?
A: Possibly. Most deceleration popping on the Austrian bikes happens on the 12-19 enduro machines and is caused by the PAIR air injector pump which can be removed in a race bike conversion.
Q: What about removing the t-stat
A: We ride our bikes year around and in all weather and temperature conditions, so for us leaving in the t-stat means a better running bike in any and all conditions. If you primarily ride hard-enduro or in temps above 65-70f you might consider removing it, otherwise leave it in.
Q: Will my fuel mileage drop?
A: Possibly. You’ll be having way more fun on your bike so you’ll likely be riding faster and with more spirited throttle inputs and that will have an effect. But we also have an economy cruise tune and that should keep things similar to stock.
Q: Should I break in my engine before doing the flash?
A: We break in all of our new bikes on a tuned ecu and find it offers better ring sealing and overall engine durability than with the stock tune.
Q: If I remove the intake reeds will my boot collapse in on itself, and do I need one of those aluminum tubes that claim to prevent this and improve power?
A: The myth of collapsing intake boots propigated on certain YouTube channels is a complete sales fabrication and false claim, and our testing demonstrats mixed results with an intake airhorn. During multiple testing sessions on multiple bikes we found they can improve power up to 2-3 HP in the mid range, but then loose up to 7-8 on the top end. We neither sell nor recommend them, nor do we advise using them in your bike.
Q: Will I see any performance or power gains by removing the backfire screen on my OEM intake filter cage?
A: While it's a myth that it will, plenty of riders believe it does. Testing demonstrates that in fact it won't, however ‘placebo power’ is a real thing, so your results may vary.
Q: Is there anything specific I should do to my bike to extract the best possible performance?
A: Testing has proven that the best running bikes will have an open exhaust and the reeds removed.
Q: Do I need to worry about any basic settings like throttle position sensor or idle speed?
A: Not if those things are in factory specification. If the TPS sensor has not been adjusted from the base setting it shouldn't need adjustment or calibration. The idle speed on your bike should routinely be checked and verified as part of your basic maintenance program.
MORE INFO
Q: What fuels do we use for our tunes?
A: Fresh 91-93 10% ethanol unleaded
Q: Can I run this tune at high altitude or in a snow bike?
A: Absolutely. The Taco Tune is fully designed for bikes running from sea level to 19,024 feet - which is the highest passable road in the world in Umling La Pass, India. It's also completely ready to go full-send in snow bikes, trail cruisers, Baja 1000 rippers, BDR bikes, Sunday speedsters and anything else in between.
Q: How do I ship you my ECU?
A: For riders in the US, we’ll email you a free shipping call tag. Place your ecu in a plastic bag with the air removed and safely pack that into a small sturdy shipping box, do not use an envelope or bubble mailer. Print and tape the shipping call tag to the box and drop it off with the applicable shipping company. Label your ECU with your name, bike year and model. Don't send the rubber ECU boot.
Q: What’s the expected wait time for my ecu to be returned?
A: Depending on your proximity to Las Vegas, ground shipping may take 1-5 days. We'll return most ecu's in one business day, however based on seasonal backlogs this may take up to three. You could plan on the same 1-5 days for the return shipping from Las Vegas to you. NOTE that all shipping times mentioned here are ESTIMATED and external impacts like carrier interruptions or unexpected delays due to work force shortages, holidays, weather etc. cannot be anticipated and are not our responsibility.
Q: Do you have an option for express flash / overnight shipping or core swap?
A: Yes, please contact us for more information. You might also consider the ‘tune at home’ program which eliminates the need to remove the ecu from the bike.

"So much fun, so much smooth power, so much better than stock. Night and day. I now have a bike I like to ride and no longer want to sell it, that's how disappointed I was with the stock power. Thanks to you guys, whatever you did it worked!"

"In one step (three really), I went from hating this 2025 500 EXCF to LOVING IT. However you guys did it, I don't really know or care but YOU DID IT. It wasn't that big of a deal or that expensive either. For $325 or whatever it was you did my reflash, For $259 I put on the PMB end cap, and for free I ripped out those reeds. So for what, $584 I now have a bike that Mike in a video says I'd be competitive in the Baja 1000 on. Sign me up! In my dreams right. But I can attest that this bike RIPS now and I'm completely in love with the tune, the bike, the sound, the everything. Plan on a ton of business there guys because all of my buddies have ridden this thing and all are saying they want the same set up. I better improve my ride skills because I still need to beat them. Thanks again Taco Moto."
