KTM and Husqvarna fuel injected machines are great bikes, but one thing to be aware of is the engine will not run if the battery is completely dead (Note- some 2020 models are fitted with a capacitor stock, see details below).
The Tokyo Offroad BLS (Battery Less Starter) Capacitor Kit can be used with KTM and Husqvarna TPI 2-strokes and allows the bike to be push or kick started and run when the battery is dead, or removed.
Warning- The BLS Capacitor stores an electrical charge and once connected to the motorcycle battery or charging system and should be handled safely and carefully to prevent electrical shock. Discharge the BLS with a 12V light bulb or protect the terminals from touching each other or shocking the user.
Model note- fuel injected KTM SXF/XCF/XC and Husqvarva FC/FX/TX models come with a similar capacity system already installed so this device isn’t needed on those machines.
However, the 2020 KTM XC-W/XCF-W/EXC-F/EXC and Husqvarna TE/FE/FES do not and will need a BLS capacitor to bump/hill start and run if the battery is dead.
The BLS capacitor may be installed permanently to the machine or temporarily during a dead battery issue.
The pre-charge version of the BLS includes the start capacitor and 9v battery connector
