The primary advantage of this lever is a 50% reduction in actuation force — less fatigue, less arm pump and more endurance, especially during high intensity race conditions.
This brake lever uses the stock pivot geometry, so the action is the same as a stock brake lever. The difference is the “shorty” length, matching the CLever clutch levers, and the same ergonomic wide blade. That lets you use a one or two fingered grip with either a short or long reach, keeping a tight grip on the bars with your remaining fingers and no danger of trapping them between the blade and the bar in a panic grab.
Midwest Mountain Engineering started when a riding buddy developed severe psoriatic arthritis and working a hydraulic clutch became impossible. After hand-building and trail-testing prototypes, they received a patent in 2011 and have been building levers ever since.
